String 1.3.7 released

String 1.3.7 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux is now available. Improvements in this release include:

(Windows) Fixed incredibly rare crash which may occur when first opening the plug-in on certain 32-bit VST Windows hosts.
(Mac) Workaround for issue that causes the preset browser to become invisible in Digital Performer 7 when the String FX Audio Unit plug-in UI is resized. This workaround, which forces this host to correctly use the Cocoa UI, can be enabled by adding the following line to the String.xml configuration file:
Massively improved speed and responsiveness of all UI controls.
Improved CPU usage when tweaking parameters from a hardware controller.
(Windows) For the Windows VST plug-in, when using a relative path for the presets folder, the path is now relative to the plug-in's DLL file and not the host's executable file.

Loomer Cumulus - Computer Music Exclusive

Cumulus is a granular sampler which radically transforms sample content by breaking it into tiny slithers of audio called grains and reorganizing them to form new sounds. Cumulus is capable of a wide ranges of timbres: from evolving atmospheric soundscapes; to organic physical textures.

Up to eight Scenes can be created; a Scene corresponding to a particular sample position and set of synthesis parameters. Scenes can be played in realtime via MIDI, or arranged internally using the built-in sequencer.

Cumulus is available free on the cover-mounted DVD of Computer Music magazine from issue 170 and onwards. Cumulus is supported on Mac OS X (VST, AU, RTAS, and Standalone), Windows (VST, RTAS, and Standalone), and Linux (VST, Standalone), and natively supports 64-bit for VST, Audio Unit, and Linux Standalone formats.

This release fixes a critical bug in Aspect 1.7.6's audio synthesis engine which caused certain presets to sometimes have a transient gliding pitch at the beginning of a note.

Manifold and Resound for Mac OS X updated to 1.6.1

Manifold and Resound for Mac OS X have been updated to 1.6.1. This release adds a fix for an issue that causes the preset browser to become invisible when either Audio Unit plug-in is hosted by Digital Performer. This is due to an incompatibility with Digital Performer's Carbon Audio Unit UI implementation. In these release, to force Digital Performer to use the plug-in's Cocoa Audio Unit UI :

Open the corresponding configuration file, ~/Library/Preferences/Loomer/Resound.xml or ~/Library/Preferences/Loomer/Manifold.xml .
Add the following line to the file:
Save and close the configuration file.

All new instances of the Audio Unit plug-in will hide the legacy Carbon UI, forcing Digital Performer to use the more compatibile Cocoa UI.

Manifold 1.4.0 and Resound 1.4.0 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux are now available. These releases add the following fixes and features:

Native 64-bit versions for Windows (VST) and Mac OS X (Audio Unit).
Compatibility fixes for various hosts.
Mac OS X components are now packaged with an uninstaller.
Vastly reduced memory usage.
(Manifold) Fixed issue where audio clicks or cpu hikes could sometimes manifest when changing parameters in Reaper.

Sequent 1.0.2 for Linux is now available. This release adds a fix for the following issue:

When running Sequent as a VST plugin in Linux Renoise, Sequent's interface could freeze when changing presets. Sequent for Windows and Mac OS X are unaffected by this issue.

Aspect 1.5.0 for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux is now available. This release adds the following fixes and features:

New oscillators with improved sound due to significantly reduced aliasing.
Backwards compatibility options (for Registered Users only) to enable the use of legacy oscillators for perfect compatibility with older patches.
Reduced CPU usage: generally around 10% reduction, but up to 20% in some cases.
Massively reduced memory usage.
Aspect oscillators are now tuned down an octave to bring them more into line with other synthesizers. Older patches will still play at the tuning they were created with.
Fixed bug where very long release envelopes stop rather abruptly.
Fixed bug in Sonar where notes are left hanging when the Sonar Transport is stopped.
Factory presets are now categorized and sorted.
Rotary controls can now be tweaked to a finer degree with the mouse wheel by holding Shift.
Fixed bug where notes sustained over a sample rate change from 96KHz to 88KHz would play at the incorrect pitch.
Fixed bug that could cause a lock under some Linux VST hosts the first time Aspect is scanned.

Aspect 1.4.2 is now available. This release adds a few minor fixes:

An uninstallation script is now available for the Mac OS X version. This will completely remove any installed Aspect components.
Fixed an issue when Aspect is hosted by Reaper that could cause audio glitches when either changing programs, or editing Aspect parameters.
Any notes playing when the host transport is restarted are now stopped.

Shift is a real-time diatonic granular pitch shifting and delay effect. It has three independent, true stereo, delay lines, each with their own transposition and delay controls, which can be combined to build complex delay structures such as ping-pong delays or harmonized chord echoes.
